Four "Must See" Glen Campbell Videos to Honor his Homegoing.

I could not resist publishing just a bit more content to honor Glen and his great talent. Here are 4 must-see videos of him playing guitar...

Biggest and baddest (fastest) guitar solos...

(Well, dear reader, I removed three of the four videos even though I was simply presenting YouTube videos here with links directly to YouTube, and simply compile them here for easy viewing, they were removed. I suggest that you visit YouTube on your own and try to find them on your own and enjoy them). Also, I'm sorry to YouTube for doing something so bad. :(

Here's the message that showed with each of the three, however, I guess that this last one is still OK to present here!

and finally this great duel with his daughter, Ashley:

Thank you Glen for the legacy you are leaving all of us here. We will greatly miss you but we know that you are in a better place. R.I.P.

Farewell Glen Campbell. You were the "Best". J Cash Lives

I just tweeted:

Farewell Glen Campbell. You were the best studio musician and voice in Nashville's history and we all will miss you. J Cash Lives.

When you visit Glen's site you'll see available his "Farewell Album" which is almost eerie as he past on today at the age of 81.

Image result for Glen Campbell quotesIt's been said that the WWII generation was the greatest generation because of the bravery of the men (and women) who fought and died for a patriotic country. During that time and shortly after Country Music made its mark on the hearts of Americans and now in recent years many have "gone home"; Waylon, Johnny, George Jones, The Hag and others and today, Mr. Glen Campbell.

Today Glen left us after a battle with Alzheimer's and our prayers go out to family and friends.

Here are a few videos to honor the man and his legacy and my own video with my song "On the Other Side" which will hopefully console fans during this time.

Glen had a ton of hits but I'm choosing to highlight this one; Try a Little Kindness. I like to think this is a piece of advice that he would leave with us. Rest in Peace my friend and we will see you on the other side!

On the Other Side, written and performed by Terry (Ter) Scott:

Dottie Lou is Alive and Singing Well!

I'm taking some time away from the usual J Cash content to share some pure country with my readers and share a great experience I enjoyed recently.

When you love Country Music as much as I do, I am always humbled when in the presence of the greats. As a young musician I met some and also played lead guitar for some; one being the famous Marvin Rainwater, but I was so young at the time I truly did not appreciate the moment. I’m older now; actually much older but we’ll just leave that at that and I’ll just say that I now have learned to appreciate moments and the people who share them.

One such moment was just last night when I met the lovely, talented and graceful Dottie Lou.

I spent last evening with this country legend at her 24th Annual BBQ in an undisclosed place in Minnesota. I was privileged to be asked by my friend who is her son, Roger.

Image result for marvin rainwaterEntering her cabin home in the “woods”, I was immediately drawn to the black and white glossies of Marvin,
and others: Merle Travis, Moe Bandy, Waylon Jennings, and so many others which she was associated and who any country aficionado would know. She also had a picture of (I think) Justin Tubb and I asked Roger if he was a son of Ernest and the answer was the affirmative.

Outside with the mosquitoes, neighbors, family and fans, was a local country band that played covers with that authentic Tele sound, a bass player that was spot on, and two guys who may have been brothers with great voices and actually could mimic Waylon, Bocephus, and The Possum (you can look that up if you aren’t the country aficionado you thought you were J).

Roger sang, his daughters also sang; all awesome, beautiful and original songs. Dottie also graced us with her voice; she is doing very well for her youthful age!

If you are not aware of Dottie Lou’s music I was able to find a few things for your listening pleasure.

Contact Dottie at her site here. Please let her know that her fan, J Cash Lives sent you!

A few of your attendees had questions and here are the answers:

First #1: "I Walk The Line" was his first country music #1 hit, according to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame + Museum

Biggest Hit: Wrote by his wife June Carter Cash and sang by Johnny Cash, “Ring of Fire” was a single from his 1963 album Ring of Fire: The Best of Johnny Cash. It was the biggest hit of Cash's career, staying at number one for seven weeks and has sold over 1.2 million digital downloads in the modern era.

Trivia: Why “J” Cash Lives? “Johnny” was never Johnny’s name. His name was simply JR which meant, well, “JR”. It was JR on his high school diploma and he took the name John when he went into the Air Force because they required a first name. Later, Johnny Cash became his stage name!

And please again, extend my sincerest thanks to Ike (MC) and Brenda. Your parents who were fabulous hosts.

Ter Scott!

I had a great time performing for a private party in Solon Springs WI last night. It was a combined "family reunion" and "Johnny Cash Bash" with many people wearing Johnny Cash shirts and apparel; a real fun time. When I got there to set up they already had Johnny's hits being played and later had karaoke for everyone. Someone even sang "A Boy Named Sue"!

If interested, I play all around the USA but mostly around MN/WI. Use "Contact Us" button on my Facebook Page to go to my web page or just CLICK HERE. Why "J Cash" Lives

I know that I could get a better SEO ranking if I used "Johnny Cash" instead of J Cash in the title above (and even in promotion), but I have my reasons and I'll just live with it. I have a special reason for using the name "J Cash" which I'll share later.

Just had some business cards made. Here is both front and back.
If you care to comment, please do so below.

And now, for a piece of trivia that you may not know about Johnny and why I use the name, J Cash.

Johnny was never Cash's real name and that's why when I perform, I am: J Cash and J Cash Lives! The following is per https://www.biography.com/news/johnny-cash-10-interesting-facts

Upon first meeting Johnny Cash for the first time, Sam Phillips, the producer of his first records, thought that Johnny had made up his last name. It sounded like “Johnny Dollar” or “Johnny Guitar.” In fact, the family name of Cash can be traced back almost a thousand years to Scotland, to the ancient kingdom of Fife. It was the “Johnny” that was an invention.
The story goes that Johnny’s parents were indecisive about what their fourth child’s name should be. His mother’s maiden name was Rivers, and she stumped for that; his father’s name was Ray, and he held out for that. “J.R.” was a shortcut to avoid conflict. It was not uncommon for Southern kids to have names made of initials in the days of the Depression, and Johnny Cash was called J.R. all through his childhood (except to his father, who nicknamed him “Shoo-Doo”). He was still J.R. even after he graduated high school; “J.R.” is the name on his diploma.
It wasn’t until Johnny joined the Air Force in 1950 that he had to assign himself a name. The recruiter would not accept a candidate with a name comprised of initials, so J.R. become “John R. Cash.”

LEARN WORDS TO: I’VE BEEN EVERYWHERE

...and a bit of the history behind the song:

"I've Been Everywhere" is a song which was written by Australian country singer Geoff Mack in 1959, and made popular by Lucky Starr in 1962.
The song as originally written listed Australian towns. It was later adapted by Canadian Hank Snow for North American (predominantly United States) toponyms, by Australian singer Rolf Harris with English and Scottish toponyms (1963),[1] and by John Hore (later known as John Grenell) with New Zealand toponyms (1966).
In 1962, the song was a number-one US country hit for Hank Snow.[2] The song was also recorded by Lynn Anderson (USA 1970), Asleep at the Wheel (USA 1973), Johnny Cash (USA 1996). READ MORE.

I’m adding this song to my J Cash Tribute repertoire and created this “worksheet” to help me learn the words. I thought my readers may have fun with this as well. Go ahead and print this and use it at parties or just to see how well you know the song!

First, here is the "history" of the song:
I was totin' my pack along the dusty Winnemucca road,
When along came a semi with a high an' canvas-covered load.
"If you're goin' to Winnemucca, Mack, with me you can ride."
And so I climbed into the cab and then I settled down inside.
He asked me if I'd seen a road with so much dust and sand.
And I said, "Listen, I've traveled every road in this here land!"

[Chorus:]
I've been everywhere, man.
I've been everywhere, man.
Crossed the desert's bare, man.
I've breathed the mountain air, man.
Of travel I've had my share, man.
I've been everywhere.

Learn to Play Guitar: Access printouts, backing tracks, videos and sound bites.

Secret Guitar Teacher  Born in 1957, Nick Minnion grew up to a soundtrack of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. Nick was first given a guitar at the age of eight, but he wasn’t a natural. Today, he says that he’s so patient with his pupils because he knows how difficult learning guitar can be.
Although he learned the trumpet in high school (to meet girls in the local orchestra), Nick was dropped not long after because there were too many trumpet players – presumably other boys who had the same idea! However, his passion for music didn’t fade, and over the years Nick has gained a strong working knowledge of the principles of music.
He listens to anything from Beethoven to Nirvana – and everything in between! His broad musical tastes mean he has mastered the guitar in a variety of styles and genres.

FLEXIBLE TEACHING

Nick believes in teaching every pupil according to their aspirations, learning style and ability. He keeps his teaching style flexible, aiming to help pupils reach their own goals rather than working to a rigid framework. That’s why he created the Secret Guitar Teacher. Packed with learning resources that Nick himself has written and produced   over the years, the website can enable anyone to learn how to play guitar at their own pace, in their own way.

Man playing guitar

IT'S ALL ABOUT YOU

Although Nick loves music, teaching is his first love. He’s a natural teacher and started teaching guitar at the age of 15, meaning he now has over 40 years’ experience. Nick believes that learning and teaching feed into one other, and he’s keen to hear from his online pupils. He offers unlimited email support to all £12 a month members, and can even provide a service where he ‘tailor makes’ his courses to suit your needs, helping you to find the right path to learn guitar and resolve any issues you’re having with your guitar playing. Nick says that a great teacher makes the pupil the star, while they themselves become almost invisible – and as the Secret Guitar Teacher, he knows all about that.

MAKING REAL MUSICIANS

Nick’s experience and passion is what makes the Secret Guitar Teacher different from other online guitar lessons. He’s not interested in simply teaching his pupils a few songs, or how to pass a guitar grade exam – he wants to help everyone understand guitar and understand music. Nick believes in making real musicians.

Johnny Cash, Remembering Easter

In honor of Easter, I'm sharing this video of Johnny (and the Carter family; including June). This was in 1962 before Johnny and June were married (March 1, 1968) was a day of celebration for Johnny Cash and June Carter: It was on that date that the couple wed in Franklin, Ky. The two were married just one week after Cash proposed while they were performing together in London, Ontario, Canada, on Feb. 22.

Rare 1967 Johnny Cash and June Carter Video

Wow, here's a rare video just put up on Youtube. This shows how fond Johnny was of June before they got married the following year. The video is some time in 67 and then later on March 1st they were married.

I just updated my "J Cash Lives" web page. Let me know what you think in the comments below.
