Johnny Cash and the Lake House Mystery; a Great Article

I have just read an article about the Cash house on the lake that is very well written, very informative and as one reader stated: "This gave me goosebumps!" Check it out. There is also a great picture with the article. Then come back here and leave your comments about it.

The article is called: Johnny Cash and the Lake House Mystery.

Josh Turner & The Whites, Ring Of Fire ( Johnny Cash). Live, Grand Ole O...

Not sure why the video doesn't always upload to here from YouTube, so here's a link to the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tREELNc0FcM

Of all the country artists who are out there, those who sing a Johnny Cash song from time to time, my favorite is Josh. First of all, he's just a super, down home next door neighbor kind of guy. But it voice is right down there with Johnny's. Of course Josh's voice doesn't sound "like" Johnny's but it's all good; very good.

The readers to this blog know that I wrote and perform a song as a tribute to the Man in Black. If you can get hold of Josh, let him know that he'd be the guy that should record it. You can find it elsewhere on this blog or just do a web search for Johnny Cash Me and My Heart. You'll find a YouTube video of it. Let me know what you think.

Thanks again Josh for honoring Merle Kilgore who wrote Ring of Fire and for Johnny Cash who made it famous! J Cash Lives!

Here's a song that you might not have heard by Johnny some years ago. He was such a prolific songwriter writing so many songs and singing so many that he wrote and those written by others. Enjoy this video:

GUITAR BUYING CONSULTING SERVICE $50

I know that most of my readers are not in this area where I live (Duluth MN/ Superior WI) that we call the Twin Ports; however, I will soon create a Kindle Book that will cover much of what I am talking about in this post but I presen it here for my local readers:

GUITAR BUYING CONSULTING SERVICE $50

Take me shopping with you and I will help you find the guitar of your dreams. If you live within 50 miles of Duluth Minnesota, I will go “shopping” with you and my fee is only $50 or 10% of the cost of the instrument; which ever is higher. Don’t be discouraged and quit playing because you think it’s “you” when it is the guitar that is hurting your growth. I’ve assisted beginners to advanced players, young (and parents for their children) and older people in making the right choice of an instrument.

For my readers who do not live here in this area, feel free to leave your questions and comments and I will be glad to offer advice here. Also, I may address the most common questions and comments in my upcoming Kindle Book.

PS. This service includes all fretted instruments such as guitars, bass guitars, banjos, etc.

Did Johnny Cash Wear Pink?

You may be seeing the "Man in Black" as the "Man in Pink" at least, wearing a pink shirt says Ter Scott who does a Johnny Cash Impersonation. He will perform approximately 30 minutes of the songs by the country icon at Women Rock in Duluth Minnesota on November 2nd, 2013.

Keeping with the theme, he will be wearing all black, but he may be wearing a pink shirt; you'll have to come and see to find out! Also, while you are there, be sure to register for a chance to win your own 30 minute show for your business, school, or social event. Or, your chances would be better by bidding at the silent auction for a 30 minute show, but have your purse because the value of these shows are about $250+. All monies from the silent auction of course will go to fighting breast cancer which is why Women Rock!

Trade out your product or service for a J Cash Event at Your Location

You can have a Johnny Cash Tribute Show at your next business event on a trade out basis.

For a limited time we will consider proposals from businesses (within 200 mile radius of Duluth Minnesota; or travel charges apply) to trade out a J Cash Lives Event at your place of business for your product or service.

My 30 minute performances include all 13 of Johnny’s #1 hits but can be customized a bit for each venue. My next performance will be on Saturday November 2nd in Duluth for a large fundraiser: Women Rock “Fight against Breast Cancer” sponsored by Charter Communications: http://www.charterwomenrock.com/duluth-womens-retreat.html. I am dressed as the “Man in Black” with my voice, guitar, and amp.

To find booking details about J Cash Lives and more, visit: www.terscott.com/jcash. My song: Johnny Cash Tribute Me and My Heart is burning up the web right now. You can hear it on the YouTube video at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWNYDRTZBxQ.  To hear my voice (and recorded original music; not my Johnny Cash stuff) please visit: www.terscott.com/sings.

The fee for a 30 minute presentation is typically $250 and up, depending on the venue, number of people in attendance, etc. I would like to trade out one performance at your location in exchange for your product or service.
Depending on what your product or service value is, in trade out I could:

  • Present a “J Cash Lives” 30 Minute Performance.
  • Your ad will appear on my webpage for 12 months starting one month prior to the booked performance; at no charge. It would be the size of the Women Rock logo on page: www.terscott.com/jcash.

  • Your ad will appear on the blog one time (blog posts virtually stay on the Internet “forever”): http://jcashlives.blogspot.com at least one month prior to the booked performance; at no charge. It would be the approximate size of the J Cash Lives white signature in the box. You could also supply some ad content and your ad pic could be linked to your webpage site.

  • An additional (optional) bonus would be that your ad could appear on any handouts that I create and distribute (I do have control over event specific promotional materials, such as any Women Rock Posters etc.; so this would only be on my materials when and where I am allowed to do so) at events for 12 months. I cannot guarantee exposure here since I’m booking into the next year. I can only say that your ad will be a reasonable size and used only with “family friendly” venues.

Please review this offer and reply as soon as you can as I could use your advertising in my November performance at Women Rock. I think this could be a wonderful benefit for both of us.

Make it a great day!

I perform this song in my concerts. I like this rendition and may incorporate it into my gigs as I am a solo performer; just me and my guitar. Check this out, it's very good.

Johnny Cash Had 13 Number One Songs

In doing research for my Johnny Cash Tribute (J Cash Lives), I found out that many of the songs that Johnny is known for were "great" and very well known but they didn't quite make it to number one. He did reach the lucky number of 13 though and here they are with links to (my favorite) videos for you to enjoy!

"Hey Porter" Bill shows us the sound of both voice and guitar.

Well I really like what Bill is doing here. I like the sound and the good guitar technique. Note that the capo is at the first fret and Johnny sang a lot of his songs up a half step like this. Note too the simplicity of the Luther Perkins guitar solo; sometimes simple is more tasteful. It certainly became the "sound" that we associate with the Man in Black. I remember when Glen Campbell told a story about someone asking Luther why he always played mostly at that end of the guitar neck when so many others were playing fast and up the neck. He replied: "They're all trying to find their place, I found mine!"

Johnny Cash Tribute Me and My Heart by Ter Scott

Do you like Johnny Cash Tributes?

Please return here as I plan to have links to other Johnny Cash tribute artists. I would like to stay in touch with any Johnny Cash Tribute artist I know that every artist presents a bit differently and knowing each other may be a mutual benefit.

I would really appreciate your comments on my YouTube Video: Johnny Cash Tribute Me and My Heart: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWNYDRTZBxQ.

Me and My Heart is a song that I wrote to sound as if Johnny wrote it, and created the guitar part as if it would be something that Luther would have written and played. If you would be kind enough to offer your comments at the video, I would be glad to reciprocate by placing my comments on your site, blog and/or your YouTube video.

I wish all of my readers continued success and may Johnny’s music continue to live!

Johnny Cash is ALIVE AND WELL in Duluth Minnesota

J Cash Lives; Supports Women Rock!

This year I will be performing a Johnny Cash Tribute at Women Rock (Rockin' for a Reason Saturday, November 2nd, 2013 details here: http://www.charterwomenrock.com/duluth-rockin-for-a-reason.html).
I’ve always been a Johnny Cash fan and I will do a musical montage of songs by the Man in Black for all of the Rockin’ attendees at this great event to raise awareness and money to fight breast cancer.
I want to do something more for this great event for all of my IMPRINTED PROMOTIONAL ITEM customers; when you purchase any promotional item that is “fighting cancer” related, 50% of my commission will go to Women Rock on any Cancer Awareness related item or for any imprinted item when you mention Women Rock! (Sorry, this is for new customers only). To order imprinted items, visit: www.myimprintrep.com/123order and flip thru our online catalog!

Watch my latest YouTube video and hear my original Johnny Cash Tribute song. I wrote it with both Johnny Cash and his lead guitarist, Luther Perkins (the guy who created the “Johnny Cash” sound”) in mind. I made it sound as if Johnny had written it, and Luther had come up with the melody. Listen and see if it doesn’t take you back in time, and please leave your comments. I’m also looking for someone to record it professionally so if you are a “Nashville Star”, contact me!

Johnny Cash Lives in Duluth MN

Now that I’m out there singing his songs, this quote has new meaning to me. Like Cash I have written songs (not as many as he for sure). I know that Cash sang Dylan and Kristofferson’s songs, but most people thought they were Johnny’s.

I really get in to Cash’s life and songs so when I sing, and speak to the people in the audience, it’s as though I were him. So now I too, must say: “I wrote this and he doesn’t know it!"

Welcome to J Cash Lives.

Welcome to J Cash Lives.

Some people say that I can sound like Johnny Cash, but that really is not my intent. My focus is to do my part in keeping his music alive.

Not that he needs any help from me as he is and always will be an unforgettable icon in the music industry.

I present concerts all around the country singing his music with just my voice and a guitar; just like he did mostly. As a songwriter myself, I share the same conduit to inspiration and the desire to share what is created with others.

Here, you’ll read my thoughts as they pertain to Johnny and me. I’ve always been intrigued by quotes about success and I’ve had a picture of Johnny, which shares a space with other geniuses on my wall. It contains a quote (that I altered only slightly so as to make it seem as if he was speaking to me directly). The quote is: “Terry, remember you build on failure. You use is as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don’t try to forget the mistakes, but you don’t dwell on it. You don’t let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space”.

I’ve just texted this to my kids. I hope you’ll find this quote useful in your life today and tomorrow. I hope you’ll return!
